Hi. I’m Laura (they/them).
Reconnecting with the joy of movement at Ashland Strength Studio inspired me to become a trainer! My approach to training is informed by my core values: bodily autonomy, health, fun, empowerment, and self-actualization. I focus on skill development and self-efficacy, and I love witnessing the Aha! moment when a client recognizes their undiscovered abilities.
I could be a great fit if you want to…
Have fun!
Enjoyment is a key component of a sustainable movement practice, providing intrinsic rewards to get you through the hard stuff. Let’s find out what lights you up!
Transform your body & lifestyle
If you want to make big changes, I’m the coach for you! I can translate your vision into actionable goals, and help you build a lifestyle that supports your well-being.
Flex your mind
Leveraging strategy & personal psychology is a no-brainer! Our mind can be our best friend...or our worst enemy. Work with me to harness your mental powers for your highest good.

My body story…
I’m an introvert who didn’t realize I was athletic until this year. As a child, I could usually be found climbing trees, hanging upside-down on monkey bars, soaring off swings at their highest arc, hiking in the forest, figure-skating on roller derby skates, daring my friends to foot races, swimming in any available pool, or freestyle dancing to my FM radio. Since I wasn’t in team sports, I didn’t consider myself an athlete.
As a teen/adult, movement became about creating the right body shape & avoiding scary health consequences. My enthusiasm faded during decades of desk work, chronic back and neck pain, two pregnancies, and perimenopause.
When I turned 50, I gave myself the gift of personal training with Tess! My experience reconnecting with the joy of movement at Ashland Strength Studio inspired me to become a trainer. My approach to training is informed by my core values: bodily autonomy, health, fun, empowerment, and self-actualization. I focus on skill development and self-efficacy, and I love witnessing the Aha! moment when a client recognizes their undiscovered abilities.

NASM Virtual Coaching Specialist
This training brought things into sharper focus for me as a coach. It helped me enhance my cueing and has given me more of an eye for movement, even in person.
Integrated Balance Training
I’m excited to use my knowledge of interoception, (what’s going on within your body) and proprioception (where you’re at in space) to help my clients become more grounded, resilient and adaptive movers.
