About Your Instructors

Hi. I’m Laura.

When I turned 50, I gave myself the gift of personal training! My experience reconnecting with the joy of movement inspired me to become a trainer. My approach to training is informed by my core values: bodily autonomy, health, fun, empowerment, and self-actualization. I focus on skill development and self-efficacy.

If you want to make big changes, I’m the coach for you! I can translate your vision into actionable goals, and help you build a lifestyle that supports your well-being.

Hi. I’m Monika Mehrens, DO.

I am a board-certified physician specializing in conventional and functional medicine. I am passionate about disease prevention and root-cause healing, and empower individuals to age gracefully and live healthier, more vibrant lives.

My path to medicine began while working in human rights and public health, coordinating 100 eye surgery clinics in 40 countries annually. A pivotal moment in the Kalahari Desert inspired me to become a physician.

Beyond medicine, I’m an avid outdoors enthusiast who enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and hiking with my dogs. I’m also passionate about art as a tool for healing, founding an Art Therapy Program at Ashland Community Hospital and curating the "Everyday Heroes – Healing through Art" exhibit, showcasing the power of creativity in self-expression and recovery for healthcare workers and patients alike.

Reserve your spot!
The event is free, but there are limited spaces. People who RSVP will be given priority. This is also how you'll receive your take-home health advocacy workbook.
