Hi. Iβm Tess. I still get nervous walking into a new gym.
I was the nerdy kid who did marching band to get exempt from gym class (gym class trauma, anyone?!?). Until my mid-20s, my body was just the thing carrying my head around.
Now, moving and lifting heavy things is how I regulate my nervous system, how I express myself and my values, and how I conjure joy when I feel like shit. Movement is when I feel most at home.

What youβll learn
Safe, strong lifting form
βWhere do I put my feet in a squat?!? Will Kettlebells hurt my back? How do I breathe when I lift something heavy?β In each class, weβll answer these types of questions, grow your skills, and improve your technique.
The basics of programming & progressions
If youβre overwhelmed by sets and reps, I got you covered. Youβll learn the difference between strength training, βtoning,β and other focus areas. There will be plenty of time to get your questions answered.
How to feel more confident in the gym
Iβll be honestβ¦I still donβt feel at home surrounded by a bunch of machines and protein powder. But now that I feel more confident in my abilities, it doesnβt seem to matter as much. By the end of the series, youβll never have to wonder βam I doing this right?β or βdo I look stupidβ (hint: probably not) again.
